We’re Open!

Our First Customers

It’s been 1-1/2 years since we bought the land and approximately 14 months since we started moving dirt. It’s been hard work and the obstacles, (mostly in paperwork) have been taxing on our time and patience, but we are open! The course and amenities are far short of what I would have hoped we could have achieved but the facility itself and what it means to the people who have come to visit are everything I expected.

Nobody ever dreamed there could be a place like this for families and kids. We have had all walks of people visit and play. From members at the two private clubs in town, to whole families including great-grandparents and babies in strollers. Today was the first day we started charging.

The holes are short, 50 yards on average. The greens are taking shape but they will only ever be fairways cut and maintained as short as we can cut them with our mower. The  driving range is narrow and only 150 yards in length. The honest assessment of our shortcomings comes from years of visiting and playing the world’s best golf courses.

Just because we are the only place like this in the area, I don’t want to stay content with the small course that we have today. To realize the complete facility as I envision it will take an  additional $100,000 in donations. We have made it this far with donations of $36,000. Take a moment to donate now, it’s fast, easy, and goes directly into the facility!

I am incredibly grateful for everyone who has donated to the project. Without your help we would not have made it this far.

I have sculpted each hole to appeal to kids and families:

  • Hole #1 – El Oso (The Bear) in honor of my wife who loves Winnie The Pooh
  • Hole #2 – El Jardin (The Garden) Fairway and green shaped like a flower
  • Hole #3 – El Pato (The Duck) In honor of Angel Cabrera
  • Hole #4 – Las Montanitas (Little Mountains) With a few moguls and moundings
  • Hole # 5 – La Isla (The Island) With a grass ditch all the way around the green… small palm tree coming soon.
  • Hole #6 – La Aranja (The Spider) In honor of Camilo Villegas.

We have priced the course so almost everybody can afford to play. A round for adults is $2.50, for kids it’s $1.50. A bucket of range balls with 25 balls is $1.50. We hope to make enough money to support 2 workers to maintain the course and the driving range and start getting the place ready for expansion.

Thanks for taking the time time and interest in our project.
